Céline, aged 30
In charge of cellular and skin biology laboratory
« Skin has always fascinated me! »
What does your job within the Group entail?
My task is to demonstrate the cosmetic properties of our products in vitro.
My team and I invent and implement different cellular culture models in vitro. We are now capable of cultivating human skin cells (keratinocytes, fibroblasts, melanocytes, etc.) We also let them “express themselves” to demonstrate the beneficial action of our products.
This mainly involves applied research, as our work needs to have rapid, concrete applications.
The purpose of our work? To contribute to our customers’ well-being through a product which is beneficial and effective.
Could you describe your everyday job?
My team and I work with all those involved in product development, while remaining at the cutting edge of research.
The ones we are closest to are the phyto-chemists, who provide us with new plant-based active ingredient ideas. But the work with microscope technicians is also particularly fruitful. At the other end of the chain, we support marketing in the preparation of draft scientific papers.
Depending on the projects, we organise partnerships or cooperation with the INSERM or CNRS. We register 4 to 5 patents and publications per year.
What appeals to you about this job?
Skin has always fascinated me! From baby’s skin to a grandmother's wrinkled skin, I find it beautiful. It is associated with all sorts of emotions.
I therefore naturally studied organic chemistry, then did a PhD in human biology to enable me to specialise in human skin.
My job is extremely fulfilling. It satisfies my inquisitiveness, my taste for discovery and learning. It has led me to work with contacts from very different backgrounds! And I am always “on watch”, attentive to the scientific world and all its advances!
